EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (RELEASE FROM JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT)--Junior Achievement (JA) of Wisconsin, based in Eau Claire and La Crosse, received a total of $7,500 from Xcel Energy in grant funding. The grant dollars were awarded for use in middle and high school to grow the career exploration programs in the Chippewa Valley and rural communities. Grant dollars were also awarded to the JA Titan program running in the Coulee Region. The Xcel Energy Foundation awards grants in four focus areas: STEM Education, workforce development, environmental stewardship, and access to arts and culture. The most recent round of grants went to nonprofit educational programs like Junior Achievement that improve science, technology, engineering, economic and math education.
"The success of our company is directly related to the health of our communities," said Jeanne Fox, Foundation grant representative at Xcel Energy. "Through our grants, we can positively impact Junior Achievement and the quality of life in the towns and cities we serve."
The investment in Junior Achievement allows the nonprofit organization to serve communities throughout the Chippewa Valley, Coulee Region and surrounding 24 communities in northwestern Wisconsin with economic and financial programs in our schools."Junior Achievement is that 'real' life connection between the business community and youth in our schools, JA helps provide needed financial literacy skill, opportunities for career exploration, and fundamentals of how a business works, said Junior Achievement Director, Susan Peterson.
