[JAFP Student Workbook Cover v2]Recently a Junior <http://bit.ly/1y9s1mU> Achievement - Rocky Mountain <http://bit.ly/1y9s1mU> student talked about her career plans as she participated in JA Finance Park. This is not unusual, but the reason why she chose her desired career is.JA Finance Park? gives students the opportunity to create and use a budget, and gives them insight into the financial trade-offs their families make every day. Recently, as students from Gateway High School <http://bit.ly/1slWmgp> were completing their budgets, some of them were struggling to keep their monthly expenditures lower than their net monthly income. A volunteer noticed that one of the students was meticulously writing down and adding up all her expenses before entering them on her budget sheet to ensure that she wasn?t overspending. The volunteer asked if the student needed help. "No," she said, "I just like to plan everything." When asked about her future career plans, the student said she wanted to be a police officer. The volunteer asked if that was because she had relatives in law enforcement. "No," the student said, "It?s because most of my relatives have been incarcerated and I want to help keep people safe."JA opens students? eyes to their future possibilities and gives them meaningful ways to help achieve their dreams while also making an impact in their communities.
